Te’Chan Jackson was born in Newark, New Jersey and currently resides in Durham, North Carolina. Te’Chan developed his music skills in 5th grade. He started writing his own music at a very young age. Once he figured out his abilities, he became focused and passionate about music in early 2013.
He describes his music style as Hip-Hop, Soul and Christian music. A few of his musical influences include Lil Wayne, J.Cole, Wale and Logic. Te’Chan is inspired by Lil Wayne’s work ethic and admires how much time he spends on perfecting his music . J.Cole. Wale and Logic inspires him to tell his unique story in his music. “Everybody can’t relate to spending ‘tons’ of money all day and enjoying the party scene so I found myself zoning out to getting deep within myself, to speak about those uncomfortable situations we tend to keep hidden from the world.”
Te’Chan has had the chance to bless the stage numerous times at local open mic nights near him in Raleigh NC. In 2017 he showcased his talent when K97.5 teamed up with The Athlete’s Foot and Reebok classic on a second year of the Athlete of the mic competition at Dubai Live. Later that year Te’chan opened up for Jeezy and Juvenile in Durham NC at the DPAC Center.
In 2018 Te’Chan also performed at the 14th Annual NC JuneTeenth Celebration which was another success for him he said. “connecting with those people meant everything, when this random lady came up to me humming my song and asked me for a hug that confirmed music was my calling.”
A few Producers and Artist Te’chan has worked with really help him in his music career. From working with those such as American Rapper Big Daddy Kane’s DJ/Producer Skaz Digga, to a 40 year Veteran name Dick Hodgin who’s worked with Jcole, Daddy Kane, Erykah Badu and much more. There are not many artist Te’Chan collabed with except for the Old School Legend New York Rapper Chubb Rock who had the hit singles “Treat Em Right”, “The Chubbster” and more.
When asked to put himself “out there” and define who he is as a person , Te’Chan Jackson revealed that like most people, he has emotions and feelings which stands out in his music. He gives different emotions in every song which gives his audience a reason to listen to every lyric and sound.
