Knoxville based rock act Count Pariah releases their latest single “Black Cloud”, streaming now! The video offers a clever yet frightening comic book graphics-driven interpretation of the song, whose lyrics (by band front man James “Shibby” Croft) share a slightly abstract view of the darkness we all carry with us and how each of us handles it.
As dark cloud and storm imagery saturates the background of each scene, we meet a random bunch of characters who have one thing in common – they are visited by a mysteriously floating ring, whose extreme brightness obscures its dark intentions as it settles close to them. The mood and circumstance of each person shifts dramatically from calm to fear, sorrow and terror as the ring appears. The characters include an old man in beachwear, a mother and her baby, a bicyclist, a couple at their wedding (whose cheer transforms quickly to doubt and fear), a wedding guest and then a man in sunglasses whose presence outside a bar results in a fiery car crash.
Following “Black Cloud,” Count Pariah will be releasing two more lead singles ahead of their as yet untitled full length album, starting with “Risk It All.” They released their critically acclaimed debut EP Hymns for Heathens in 2022.
